Sermon Title: “When Men Say It Is Over, God Takes Over!”

Introduction
Life’s journey can be full of challenges, hardships, and moments where we feel like we’ve reached the end of the road. It is in these moments of despair when human strength seems inadequate, that we are reminded of a powerful truth: When men say it is over, God takes over. In our weakness, God reveals His strength. What man sees as the end, God sees as the perfect opportunity for a new beginning.

Scriptural Reference
Let’s turn to a familiar story in 1 Kings 17:8-16, where the prophet Elijah was sent to a widow in Zarephath. She had given up hope, preparing to eat her last meal with her son before death. But just when she thought it was over, God intervened and turned her situation around. When men say it’s over, that’s precisely when God steps in with provision, protection, and power.

Point 1: Man’s Limitations are God’s Starting Point
There are times in life when people will look at your situation and declare it finished. Maybe it’s your finances, your health, your relationships, or your career that seems hopeless. Like the widow who had nothing but a small jar of oil, you may feel empty and defeated. But remember, man’s limitations are God’s starting point. In Isaiah 55:8-9, the Bible says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Where human wisdom and ability end, divine wisdom and power begin. Trust that God can use your brokenness to manifest His glory.

Point 2: God’s Timing is Always Perfect
Many times, we expect quick solutions, and when things don’t happen as we plan, we think it’s over. But God’s timing is not our timing. In John 11, Lazarus had been dead for four days before Jesus arrived. People had already accepted his death, but when God took over, a miracle happened. Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave, demonstrating that even death is not the end when God is involved.

So, when it feels like you’re in a tomb of despair, remember, it is not too late for God to bring resurrection power into your life. His timing is perfect.

Point 3: God Turns Setbacks into Comebacks
Joseph’s life was filled with setbacks—betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. But every setback was part of God’s plan to set Joseph up for a powerful comeback. What looked like the end of Joseph’s dreams was, in fact, the beginning of God’s greater purpose for his life. Genesis 50:20 sums it up beautifully: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

In the same way, what may seem like the end of your story is often just a plot twist leading to your divine comeback. Trust in God’s plan, even when you don’t understand it.

Point 4: God Specializes in the Impossible
Our God is a God of the impossible. When men say it’s over, God does what seems impossible. When Moses and the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, it seemed over. But God parted the sea, making a way where there was no way. When David faced Goliath, it seemed impossible for a shepherd boy to defeat a giant, but God gave him the victory.

Ephesians 3:20 tells us, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” So, don’t give up! God is still able to do what men say cannot be done.

Conclusion: Trust God’s Overcoming Power
When men declare failure, God declares victory. When the world says it’s over, God says, “Watch what I can do.” No matter the situation you face today, no matter how dark the night seems, remember that God is still in control. His plans are greater, His timing is perfect, and His power is limitless.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You that when men say it’s over, You take over. Help us to trust You fully in our darkest hours, knowing that You can turn our setbacks into comebacks and that nothing is impossible for You. Strengthen our faith and remind us that Your timing is always perfect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
